Al Gore hosts SOS films at Tribeca Film Festival

July 2,2007 by mikelatarlow

He may not have invented the internet… but he sure has ushered in a new era of storytelling.

Inconvenient Truth catapulted global warming onto the public stage almost overnight.

Kevin Wall, the founder of SOS and  producer of the upcoming Live Earth Concerts in July,  states: “The mission of the SOS Short Films Program is to create a series of educational and compelling short films that highlight the problems of, and engage people with solutions for, the global climate crisis….The SOS Short Films Program harnesses some of the world’s most creative minds to educate, inform and inspire people across the globe to solve the climate crisis.”

(By the way SOS, stands for Save Our Selves.)

On 7/7/07 there will be 24 hours of music from 7 concerts in 7 days on 7 continents.  The  Live Earth Concert will promote the message through high profile music stars and live events. http://www.liveearth.org/

“Live Earth will bring together an audience of more than 2 billion at the concerts and through television, radio, film, and the Internet. That audience, and the proceeds from the event, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by Vice President Al Gore.”

The Alliance Campaign is one of the partners that will be launched through this series and will roll out a massive public education campaign focused on the “solvability” of this crisis.

Too often we forget that effectively communicating the message is part of the solution.
