Busy Weeks at the WILD9 Secretariat!

April 16,2009 by Maria

The last few weeks have been chaotic here in Mexico City. Fate decided that our office be located just at the epicenter of all the Mexico City repairs. Practically every avenue surrounding our office is being renewed, and traffic has been worst than ever. We enjoy honking, cursing and all sorts of un-peaceful demonstrations from 9 to 6. Maybe we should put up a sign that read “Honk if you care for wild nature”.

Additionally, new members have joined our team for WILD9, and we have managed to create an all-ladies space (which smells really nice) here at the corner office of our building. Now Liz (logistics), Tania (communications & design), Rosa (our new volunteer) and I are happily sharing what once was a desolate and quiet room. Across the Hall there are two more new señoritas helping with fundraising and some of the special events (of which you’ll find out soon) for WILD9. They are Daniela and Ana.

All the members of this new feminine team have been very busy dodging traffic, and speeding up many areas that add a lot of excitement to the process of making WILD9 the most interesting and fun WWC yet.

As for myself, I am thrilled because we have been receiving our first notifications of people who have already registered for WILD9 through our system. The first ones have been Mexicans, and some other early birds.

I wish anyone reading this could pass the word (and the link) to as many people as you can, notifying them that the registry is now open for all participants. Read the instructions for registration and register today!

Thank you very much, and “see” you next week.
