Dr. Stephan Harding talks on Ecosytems and Cultures
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Stephan Harding, the coordinator of the Msc in Holistic Science at Schumacher College will participate at WILD9 to share his visions on deep ecology and Gaia. Dr. Hardings insights and understanding of the connection between humans and earth are completely in-line with WILD’s vision.
He recently was quoted, “Our high consumption lifestyles are driving the species extinction crisis, both in Europe and around the world. We must, as a matter of utmost urgency, develop ways of living that have vastly less impact on the natural world. In this course we will be inspired in this quest by the concept of biocultural diversity which explores how traditional cultures have nurtured, enhanced and maintained the biodiversity of their local ecosystems.”
Dr. Harding is also holding a special course in mid-July specifically focused on ecosystems and cultures. From July 13-24 Schumacher College will run a special course, led by Dr. Harding, Gary Martin and Juan Mayr Maldonado, titled “Valuing Diversity: Learning from Ecosystems and Cultures.”
This course sounds super interesting — wish I were in the UK and could take advantage of this great opportunity, but at least I will get to hear Dr. Harding speak at WILD9 in November.
