Environmental Leadership Scholarships for Young Leader in UK
News from our sister organization The Wilderness Foundation UK — In conjunction with Tellus Mater, a grant giving trust, The Wilderness Foundation UK will be offering environmental leadership scholarships to young people from organisations across the UK for a third consecutive year.
This year they will be working with a selection of 18-30 year old young professionals from the corporate and charity sectors who are already committed to positive change for the environment and low carbon solutions.
“If I had to summarize my experience I would call it a beautiful enlightenment. I feel so lucky to have gone on this trip because I was able to share these experiences and thoughts with such amazing people; my wilderness family.” – Mita – Participant 2009
Scholarship winners will be invited to join a six day environmental leadership programme located in a remote, wild part of Scotland where together with seven other participants and two wilderness guides we will work to:
- Develop leaders for the future who truly understand the crucial need for balance between humans and nature to ensure a sustainable future;
- Deepen understanding of issues such as low carbon living, sustainability and conservation, as a result of a direct experience of wild nature;
- Understand and develop the needs of the individual and the group;
- Encourage personal growth through reflection and challenge;
- Give time to busy people to focus on what they are truly passionate about;
- Support participants to develop project ideas and future action;
- Give the opportunity to explore radical and new thinking with other like minded people; and,
- Encourage graduates to think, feel and act about the things that are important to them.
