explore.org – cool new site

November 30,2009 by Emily Loose

I just found out about a really cool new nonprofit — explore.org, and thought I’d share their info with WILD readers.  explore.org is a multimedia organization that documents leaders around the world who have devoted their lives to extraordinary causes.  Both educational and inspirational, explore creates a portal into the soul of humanity by championing the selfless acts of others.  They also give grants to many of the organizations that they document.

They cover issues ranging from the degradation of the environment to endangered species are featured extensively in the films complete with bountiful facts and beautiful footage. Whether you are interested in the endangered gorillas in Rwanda or the effects of global warming in the Arctic — its all beautiful and very informative.

The organization started by Charles Annenberg Weingarten, a trustee of the Annenberg Foundation. The site features original educational videos and photographs documenting philanthropic acts and extraordinary leaders around the world. The main goals of explore.org goals are “To Champion the Selfless Acts of Others” and to encourage us to “Never Stop Learning”. With over 200 videos and thousands of photos to date, the videos cover a wide range of topics and come in a variety of lengths.  I hope you’ll enjoy the site as much as I did!
