Augustin is a 27-year-old Haitian with a passion to build community gardens.

Haiti has been rocked by one devastating disaster after the next, throwing much of its already vulnerable population into poverty. Augustin watched as these events destabilized his country and threatened the future of the country’s youth.

Augustin

Augustin would not simply stand by. He created a solution on a local level that would engage youth and work to tackle large-scale problems within his country, one garden at a time.

Augustin knew a garden may not necessarily save his country but it could lay the seeds to eradicate poverty by building the spirit of the country’s youth, enabling them to become tools for their communities and step into leadership roles and ownership of a project. Leading a youth movement centered around fostering nature in midst of deep-rooted political upheaval and the aftermath of natural disasters is no easy task. Augustin needed support from others like him.
