Opportunities for young leaders & film-makers

Two exciting opportunities this week  – One for environmental film makers (Wildscreen Festival) & one for young environmental leaders (Barron Prize).  More details….

The Wildscreen Festival is back, searching for the world’s best wildlife and environmental films. Entries for the Festival’s prestigious Panda Awards, dubbed the green OSCARS, will be welcomed from Monday 25 January until Friday 26 March.

In 2008, the Festival attracted 440 films from 43 countries; 62 productions were selected for viewing by the Final Jury and 22 prizes were awarded in fields as diverse as animal behaviour to campaigning, editing to newcomer. The 2010 awards will be presented at a gala Award Ceremony held during the Festival week where over 650 leading industry figures are gathered together to celebrate and applaud the winning films.  Full details and entry requirements at the WildScreen website >

AND…

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes honors outstanding young leaders who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet. Their leadership and courage make them true heroes—and inspirations to us all.

Each year, the Barron Prize honors twenty-five winners nationwide. Half of the winners have focused on helping their communities and fellow beings; half have focused on protecting the health and sustainability of the environment.  More information on the Barron Prize >
