Whereas:
• The World Wilderness Congress is the key global forum for sharing experiences, lessons, advances and cutting edge approaches and ideas for protecting, conserving and restoring wilderness areas and wild nature in collaboration with caring people and communities.
• WILD9 synthesises the collective wisdom of over 1500 delegates from 52 countries including community leaders, policy and decision-makers, wilderness land owners and managers, scientists, researchers, indigenous communities, business corporations, philanthropists, young people and many others.
• WILD9 recognises that large intact wilderness areas and well-functioning natural ecosystems:
- are vital to the well-being of the planet and its people;
- taken for granted and undervalued by society and its economic and public policy drivers;
- essential to an ecologically diverse and sustainable world.
Therefore:
• WILD9 has identified a range of opportunities and practical approaches for investing in the protection, conservation and restoration of wilderness areas and the natural ecosystems and services they provide.
• Noting that the timing of WILD9 is on the eve of critically important global negotiations leading to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which in large part will determine the future well-being of our planet.
• The findings and conclusions of WILD9 will provide constructive contributions to UNFCCC deliberations for an effective mechanism to deliver critically important outcomes to avoid catastrophic consequences and irreversible climate change.
Resolved this congress resolves to ensure the WILD9 Secretariat:
Report a concise statement of relevant findings and recommendations of WILD9 to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Negotiations, highlighting practical solutions and recommended approaches for effective measures to achieve the environmental, social and economic changes needed to assure the future well-being of Earth.

When social justice is served, so too is environmental justice, and vice versa. I urge an integrated global strategy of balanced sustainability on Earth for all our relations thriving in wild places.
