Resolution 27: Sharks the World´s Climate Preserver/El tiburón – preservador del clima mundial
Discuss this resolution on the WILD Forums >
Whereas:
Marine Phytoplankton in the Oceans absorb enormous amounts of carbon dioxide. Being at the top of the marine food chain, sharks have a share in maintaining the ecological balance. Sharks ensure that smaller fish, which eat Phytoplankton, do not proliferate unnaturally so that the oceans can still play their role as an important climate regulator.
Therefore:
Noting WILD 9’s concern with climate change, a worldwide prohibition of catching sharks is necessary contribution to worldwide climate protection.
Resolved:
World 9 calls for prohibition on the hunting and killing of sharks.
