Strong Call from EU Parliament to Protect Europe’s Remaining Wilderness

Early last week, the European Parliament passed an historical motion in support of wilderness protection.  “Wilderness in Europe,” a report by Gyula Hegyi, was adopted by a favorable majority, and all political parties, in a vote on 3 February.   The approval of this report will help revive and redefine the concept of wilderness protection in Europe, a primary goal of Wild Europe, a consortium of organizaitons that The WILD Foundation has worked with since its inception.  The approval of this report is one part of a long series of events that are creating new opportunities to strengthen the conservation of European natural heritage within the current legal framework.  Wild Europe will report on these many milestones and activities at WILD9 in November.  Read more about wilderness in Europe >
