@WILD – The WILD World of Twitter

July 10,2009 by Emily Loose

As you might know, Twitter is a growing (exponentially) news sharing site and online networking community. WILD’s a growing precense, and our daily Tweets include program updates, WILD9 news and news from our partners. We hope that you’ll tune into @WILDFoundation.

And, we’ve found a few friends and colleagues on Twitter! Thought I would list a few of them, with a brief description of why you should follow them too:

@ILCP - The International League of Conservation Photographers, an initiative of WILD – translating conservation science into compelling visual messages to target conservation action.

@WILD9 – The 9th World Wilderness Congress. The WWC is the world’s longest running public environmental forum. WILD9 will convene in Merida, Mexico 6-13 November 2009. WILD founded the WWC in 1977 and continues to lead the project with international partners.

@WildWonders – Wild Wonders of Europe is the world’s biggest photo-based nature communications initiatives, ever. Raising awareness of Europe’s incredible wildlife and wild places.

@Freedom_to_Roam – Wildlife Corridors – Inspiring, Connecting, Preserving (by Conservation Photographer Florian Schulz).

@EarthShare – Striving to protect the quality of life through stewardship of the environment (WILD is a member of EarthShare’s workplace giving)

@NatureCanada – The people at Nature Canada bring you the inside scoop on the latest updates on their conservation, outreach and advocacy work.

@eTownHall – Building community through music. Etown is a syndicated show that features performances by renown musicians and interviews with influential guests (a fellow Boulder NGO!)

@elephantjournal – A Boulder-based journal on yoga, organics, conscious consumerism, adventure, wellness and more!

@WiserEarth – Connects you to communities of action – social media for social change. Founded by Paul Hawken.

@wildernessnet – Wilderness information for wilderness specialists!

@IUCN – The World’s oldest and largest global environmental network – a democratic membership union with more than 1,000 government and NGO members.

@ecoworldly - environmental issues reported from writers around the global.

@350 – mobilizing a global climate movement around one target – 350!

@CarlPope – Executive Director of the Sierra Club, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots environmental group.

@cpaws – Canadian parks and wilderness society
