Wild Wonders of Europe Campaign to Document Europe’s Natural Heritage a Success!

September 1,2009 by Emily Loose

Wild Wonders of Europe announces the completion of the intensive 14 month field work phase by 67 top-league professional photographers resulting in the creation of the world’s first comprehensive, up-to-date image database of European wilderness, wildlife and natural heritage. The impressive 150,000 image compilation will be at the center of books, websites, exhibits, slideshows, TV and digital media for all of Wild Wonder’s work – including its flagship book and Outdoor Exhibition series “The Great Wild Show.”

A Wild Wonders gallery will be showcased during WILD9, and many photographer members of the group will participate in WiLDSPEAK and other WILD9 events.  The WILD Foundation is very proud to be a partner of WWE ever since it began just after the 8th World Wilderness Congress (Alaska, 2005). Congratulations from the WILD team to the incredible team working with WWE founder/photographer Staffan Widstrand. Now the work begins – -communicating conservation value and urgency. Science is important and vitally necessary….yet it’s the communications efforts and tools that move the human emotions and inspire social and political action necessary to protect wildness.

“Braving soaring heat, deep seas and extreme cold, our Dream Team of photographers have created a breathtaking document of our shared natural heritage. Physical proof of an amazing comeback story and showing a side of Europe previously not well known – with really wild landscapes and charismatic species. It is truly a unique achievement”. Florian Moellers, Wild Wonders of Europe Communications Director.
