Wilderness Stamps
At WILD9, the first series of stamps on wilderness was initiated by the Mexican Postal Service.
The stamps celebrate wilderness around the world and at the opening ceremony of WILD9 Mexican President Felipe Calderon canceled the first issue of the five stamp series, which features wilderness areas from Canada, USA, Mexico, South Africa and Russia. Parks Canada CEO Alan Latourelle canceled the Canadian stamp, which features Canada’s newly expanded Nahanni National Park Reserve by Canadian photographer Harvey Locke, Vice-President for Conservation Strategy at WILD. Each of the other stamps was canceled by representative delegates from those regions.
The stamps are now on sale to the general public through the Mexican Postal Service.
