Sharon Shay Sloan

ICLS Program Manager

Shay SloanShay joined WILD in 2009 to support core operations and the Native Lands & Wilderness Council (NLWC) at WILD9, the 9th World Wilderness Congress. She is the former program manager of Native Oceans and the NLWC, and founding director of ICLS. Shay has worked at the intersection of cultures as a facilitator and leader in community development and project management for the past fifteen years, including with Bioneers, and in Mexico with the International Sea Turtle Society. She is a community steward, wilderness rites of passage guide, editor, writer and gardener.

 

Vance Martin

WILD Foundation President, co-founder of the Native Lands & Wilderness Council

Vance MartinVance joined WILD as president in 1984 after 15 years in international business and non-profit management. An acknowledged expert in international nature conservation and wilderness protection, he serves on the boards of numerous organizations such as the Cheetah Conservation Fund, Friends of Peace Parks, Fulcrum Publishing, Wilderness Foundation (South Africa), Wilderness Foundation (UK), International Conservation Caucus Foundation, and others. He is also the founder and current chairman of the IUCN Wilderness Specialist Group.

 

Ilarion Merculieff

Ilarion MerculieffIlarion, Aleut traditional messenger, has almost four decades of experience serving his people, the Aleuts of the Pribilof Islands and other indigenous peoples locally, nationally and internationally. For his entire career, Ilarion has been a passionate advocate for indigenous rights/wisdom, and harmonious relationship with Mother Earth. As an Aleut traditional messenger, Ilarion’s purpose is to share indigenous elder wisdom and the messages of indigenous spiritual leaders with the world.
