Let’s brainstorm some ideas for funding youth delegates to attend WILD9! Currently, I’m working on some research on grant station to find potential scholarships. I also encourage those who’d like to come to WILD9 to start their own fundraising page on firstgiving.com, and asking their community and networks to support them. What other ideas and contacts to we have to support young leaders at WILD9?

Prof John Peden from Georgia Southern University suggested the following:

Delegates that will be presenting creative work at the Congress may be able to
qualify for funding through the Banff Mountain Grants Program. The application
deadline is June 15th. See the following link for additional information.

Funding follows relationships. Be clear about why your attendance at WILD9 is so important to you and your community, and tell that story from your heart to the dozen people most important in your life. If, when you ask for help to attend WILD9, that person can or can not, be sure and ask if they know of any additional person or organization which might be able to help. Possible organizations might include: Rotary Club, church, Community Foundation, local environmental education organization, large companies in your town, friends of your parents’ at work, relatives. My WILD Nature might reveal a compelling piece of your story to share to create all the resources you need.

Teens: Share your story in front of the mirror. Complete these 3 sentences with a different ending each day for 3 weeks : I am proud that I…, I forgive you for…, I commit to you that I will… Be your first cheerleader. Make a new declaration of what you will create. Attach wonderful endings to the declaration I am…

Creating a circle of support will give you practice in speaking up and saying what matters to you about the experience at WILD9. These supporters may be your natural audience when you return to tell your WILD9 story and to ask for simple shifts in their actions impacting climate change. You are not alone. Speak from your heart. I am certain that if you take these steps you will gather resources to attend WILD9.

Your natural language is digital and you need to communicate your ask to a different generation which does not speak easily your tweeting/skyping/facebooking. Go to where the money is. Meet the keepers of the coin where they live. Face to face is most effective. If you do write a letter, make it a one pager, include the link to WILD9.org so they can read more about the Congress, a quote of support from your parents, make a clear ask and be specific how they can contribute to you, include your address/phone/email address.

Instant digital access connects you to a world of support. What you take in has fewer limiting beliefs than are held by adults. If you are on a social networking site, can you set up a fundraising page? Ask with belief and sincerity and you will be at WILD9. Be joyful and have fun.

Collectively a change is on its way and your tribal consciousness is needed. Create a level of asking and receiving that will create the state of abundance to signal to your world what it is you are manifesting.
The ask might sound like this:

I am going to be a delegate at WILD9, will you help me?

Know clearly your goal. Deliberately create your actions to connect you to what you need to to be in Merida, Mexico in November. Place your attention on what you are: a young delegate attending WILD9 and all the things of being that great young delegate to WILD9 becomes your reality. See yourself owning the goal of being at WILD9. Have the right information in right order. Take consistent action without thought. Train your brain to be at WILD9. Perfect practice. Create an overarching vision for being at WILD9. Know how you will contribute. Pay the price of being willing to learn what you need to learn to be great-be disciplined.

Imagine the successes you will navigate yourself through in life as you anchor yourself to this success. Choose who you are. Love manifesting your brilliance. Be happy for no reason. Don’t worry, be happy. If you encounter a negative response, do not believe it means anything about you. Velcro the positive responses to you and teflon the negative responses. Make a list of 3 things you appreciate about yourself for 3 weeks. Find your strengths and leverage them. Check out Sedona Method or EFT if you need more support for getting back in the game.

Follow your passion. You are here for a purpose. What is your dream? Be/do anything as long as you want it badly enough, but you have to go for it. Let love expand your possibilities. Fear decreases your options. Lead with love, let the level of support surround you with miracles.

Here and now, your thoughts and images, are creating your reality. Tune up your energies and shape yourself into being in Mexico. You deserve to be at WILD9. Stand up and have your voice heard.

Take the walk to WILD9 and we will see you in Mexico.

Young delegates, you know social media. Could you use your skills to teach your parents, their friends, other adults to use social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, texting?Recently a parent offered a hundred dollars a class to learn these skills. You will be creating a groundswell with your skills at WILD9. Why not use them to help fund your WILD9 experience?

20 Great Fundraising Ideas for the Summit
1. Tell Your Story – The more you talk about WILD and why it’s important to you,
the more people will share in that excitement and want to sponsor your trip.
2. Send a Letter or Email asking for support to EVERYONE you know –
Plus, ask them to forward the letter on to at least five other people.
3. Add an Email Signature – Add a line in your email signature about WILD that says:
“Help me make it to WILD http://www.WILD.org”
4. Create a Facebook Group and/or Event and Send Updates on your progress.
5. Ask BIG – Ask at least one person for 0 – The worse they can say is no,
or maybe they’ll donate 0 instead, or even 0, better yet they could say YES.
6. Air Miles – Instead of asking for money, ask for Air Miles to help pay for your flights to and from.
7. Have “Playathon” Fundraising event or a Game Night.
8. Look for a Corporate Sponsor—they might be willing to sponsor you if you agree to promote their company with WILD.
9. Is your birthday coming up soon? Create a Facebook Birthday Gift Pledge and ask your friends to sponsor your trip instead.
10. All that old stuff that has been hanging out underneath your bed, in the garage or is hidden in your closet… Gather it up and have a Yard Sale. Ask your friend to give you’re their old things too.
11. Hold a Theme Party for your friends. Ask for a donation at the door.
12. Start your own Extra Change Box—keep a jar in your room and every day put your extra coins in it. Ask your family to do the same. It will add up.
13. Get your friends to donate a piece of art, get your favorite restaurant to donate a gift certificate, etc. Have a silent Auction for your community, friends and family.
14. Pet-Sit, Baby-Sit, House-Sit –Are your neighbors going away and they don’t want to leave their dog, their child or their house unattended? Offer Your Servicesand charge them!
15. Have a favorite Yoga Instructor? –You’ve bent over backwards for them…now it’s their turn to do the same for you!
16. The traditional Bake Sale is still one of the best ways to put your cooking skills at work, sell your creation and raise funds!
17. Who cares that you have no rhythm and can’t carry a tune? Get your friends together for a fun Karaoke Night and have the announcer tell the crowd that you are singing for donations!
18. Take advantage of your next Hair Cut and ask your hairdresser or barber to donate of every haircut they complete over one weekend. Or, have them put a donation jar at their station with a small flyer.
19. Host a Movie Screening and have your friends and family make a donation to walk the red carpet.
20. Clean cars for a good cause by hosting a Clean Green Car Wash. Make it environmentally friendly by using minimal water and eco-friendly soap.
Start Early! Start Now!—the earlier you begin fundraising the better off you’ll be.
