Young Professionals & Action

From the young professional specific workshop and feedback from the WILD9 youth and young professional program, we know that emerging conservation leaders need:

  • A way to connect with other young leaders working on similar issues;
  • A resource for conservation related job and networking opportunities;
  • Specific opportunities for professional development, whether expanding conservation knowledge or training for career development; and,
  • Connections to senior leaders in their field.

It is our hope that through the convening of the World Wilderness Congress and our intergenerational working model that we can assist young leaders in meeting these core needs. For example, working with Simon Jackson, founder and chairman of the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition, we organized several trainings in Boulder, CO for youth and young professionals.

We also have organized and edit a monthly email digest for emerging leaders.  Young leaders from around the world submit project updates, opportunities or request for collaboration.  Our team compiles job and grant opportunities, emerging issues in the conservation sector and leadership development tips.  Submissions are open to everyone, and can be sent to Emily Loose using the young leader’s digest content submission form.
